Digital health innovators revealed as finalists in the HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Awards

European health centers are recognised for digital innovation which advances patient safety and outcomes.

BARCELONA, Spain - (HealthTech Wire/ News) - The Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS) and Elsevier, the global information analytics company specialising in science and health, are proud to recognise organisations for outstanding achievement and innovation in the implementation and usage of health information and technology via the HIMSS-Elsevier Digital Healthcare Awards:

The ‘Outstanding ICT Achievement Award’ celebrates teams who have harnessed information and technology to successfully advance patient care and safety.

The ‘Outstanding ICT Innovation Award’ focuses on those who have creatively leveraged existing technology or developed ground-breaking new solutions, to significantly enhance patient care and outcomes, and drive greater ICT adoption.

The awards will be announced at the HIMSS Europe & Health 2.0 Conference on 28 May in Sitges, Spain. Four organisations have been shortlisted for the awards. The two finalists for the ‘Outstanding ICT Achievement Award’ are:

  • STELPA - Swiping with the patient to get their own words into the digital health records system, Praktikertjänst, Sweden
  • Introduction of a Computerised Decision Support Solution, Azienda Socio Sanitaria Territoriale (ASST) di Vimercate, Italy

The three finalists for the ‘Outstanding ICT Innovation Award’ are:

  • e-Nabız Personal Health Record System, Sağlik Bilgi Sistemleri Genel Müdürlüğü (SBSGM) & Ministry of Health Turkey, Turkey
  • Unimpeded Health Communication Center (ESIM), Sağlik Bilgi Sistemleri Genel Müdürlüğü (SBSGM) & Ministry of Health Turkey, Turkey
  • Clinical decision support in sepsis: Impact of the implementation of an electronic order set on the management and outcomes of sepsis, Hospital Marina Salud Denia, Spain

The HIMSS-Elsevier Awards are being hosted in Europe for the second time and have previously been celebrated in the Asia Pacific region more than five years and the Middle East region for three.

It reflects Elsevier’s on-going global commitment to supporting healthcare providers to continually evolve, to meet the needs of a changing population.

All the shortlisted projects use robust data and insight to streamline systems and make better use of healthcare practitioner skills in order to better manage patients and improve clinical outcomes.

The winner will be announced on 28 May during an exclusive award ceremony and gala dinner at HIMSS Europe & Health 2.0 Conference in Sitges, Spain.
