Spain is among the European countries in which hospitals are most heavily digitised. Juan Luis Cruz, CIO of Hospital Universitario Puerta de Hierro in Spain, sees both cultural and economical reasons for this. Looking back at Puerta de Hierro’s own projects, he believes that going mobile had the biggest impact clinically but having a fully adopted EMR has had significant financial gains.
