HIMSS Europe & Health 2.0 to focus on digital strategies to solve current healthcare challenges

HIMSS Europe & Health 2.0 will take place on 27-29 May in Hotel Melià Sitges (Barcelona) and will gather close to 2,000 professionals, entrepreneurs and policy makers working in the field of digital health. Speakers and participants will work out strategies for the adoption of innovative technologies and will discuss the challenges and benefits that the technological revolution brings to healthcare, as well as how to adapt budgets to this new reality.
Speakers include digital health gurus such as Lucien Engelen, Director of Radboud REshape Innovation Center; Robert Wachter, best known as the “Digital Doctor”, and Professor and Chair at the Department of Medicine at UCFC; Marie Ennis O’Connor, patient advocate, healthcare social media expert and board member at Patient Empowerment Foundation; Dee O’Sullivan, Director at Myhealthapps; Anne Cooper, Chief Nurse at NHS Digital; and Ralph Echemendia, best known as “The Ethical Hacker”.
Digital mental health, GDPR and big corporations
Among the numerous innovations that will be showcased at the conference are digital solutions to help people with mental health problems. The session Health & Mental Health: No Patient Left Behind will explore how new technologies can assist this type of patients, including patients with dementia and caregivers.
Another highlight of the conference will be the data security and interoperability sessions that will approach how the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will affect healthcare organisations and patients.
As well as digital health entrepreneurs from all over Europe, the HIMSS Europe & Health 2.0 Conference will gather influential and leading suppliers in the medical technologies and pharmaceutical fields that are moving into the digital world. The conference also encompasses the European Telemedicine Conference, the Young Innovators Competition and activities for the Women in Health IT community (#WomeninHIT).
