Vimercate hospital in Italy successfully revalidates as EMRAM Stage 6 hospital
LOMBARDIA, Italy - (HealthTech Wire / News) — In demonstrating compliance against the standards Vimercate hospital has reaffirmed its commitment to use technology to improve patient safety and the overall quality of clinical care.
The Stage 6 success has been enabled by Electronical Medical Record provider DEDALUS who have been working in close partnership with the hospital since 2010.
Vimercate’s CIO Giovanni Delgrossi said that “our nurses, physicians, pharmacists and technicians are very proud to have reached the ambitious result to confirm the EMRAM Stage 6 for the hospital, three years after the first achievement. Among other things the revalidation visit has allowed us to share our experience about our fully automated closed loop medication administration process, the adoption of a highly structured clinical decision support system, improved business analytics capabilities, the newly introduced digital process in oncology, as well as the implementation and effective use of standardised nursing care pathways (PAI).
"Our hospital management considers the EMRAM as a fundamental benchmark to plan, implement and continuously improve our technical infrastructure and the ability to provide the best care possible to our patients. One of our next objectives will be to potentially achieve EMRAM Stage 7 and to also use the Continuity of Care Maturity Model (CCMM) to improve collaboration and technology deployments even outside Vimercate hospital."
Engaging clinical staff and driving innovation
HIMSS Analytics Director Jörg Studzinski who revalidated the hospital said “this validation has truly shown that Vimercate has always continued to make progress with the introduction of new features, the deployment and the effective use of Electronic Medical Record technology. Over the past three years the hospital, which already was widely paperless in 2014, hasn’t stopped to further improve the system, to innovate, and also to engage clinical staff to be part of technology and workflow optimisation projects.”
The EMR Adoption Model (EMRAM) is an eight stage model that measures digital maturity in hospitals. Achieving EMRAM Stage 6 reflects the desire of the hospital to become paperless and to use Information Technology in a way that creates benefit for both patients and clinicians.
Achieving EMRAM Stage 7 reflects the desire of the hospital to become paperless and to use Information Technology in a way that creates benefit for both patients and clinicians.
Vimercate Hospital will receive the award at HIMSS Europe 18 which will take place in Sitges, Spain between 27- 29 May 2018. The event is organised by HIMSS Europe and has the support of many partner organisations. The event is expected to attract in excess of 2,000 Health IT and clinical leaders.
